Our Story

Rooted in Tradition,
Driven by Flavour

From the sun-drenched hills of southern Italy to our doors in Hornchurch, every product we offer carries a story of craftsmanship, provenance, and genuine passion for extraordinary taste.

Where It Began

A Heritage Born in Southern Italy

The Veronesi family tradition stretches back to the bustling spice markets of Calabria and the aromatic coffee houses of Milan, where generations learned to identify quality by touch, scent, and taste long before formal grading systems existed. Growing up surrounded by these traditions, our founders developed an instinct for recognising excellence in raw ingredients.

In 2016, after settling in Hornchurch, England, they channelled that heritage into a small market stall selling hand-blended Italian spice mixes and freshly roasted coffee. The response was immediate. Customers who had grown accustomed to mass-produced, flavourless alternatives were captivated by the vibrancy and depth of properly sourced, freshly prepared ingredients.

What began as a weekend venture quickly grew into a fully fledged business. By 2018, Taste of Veronesi had established direct relationships with producers across 14 countries, launched an online store, and built a loyal community of food enthusiasts, home baristas, and professional chefs who share our belief that great cooking starts with great ingredients.

Our Philosophy

Quality Without Compromise

We believe that the distance between an ordinary meal and an extraordinary one is often just a single ingredient. A pinch of properly sourced saffron, a spoonful of ceremonial-grade cocoa, or a perfectly extracted espresso can transform the everyday into something memorable. That conviction guides every decision we make.

Our approach is straightforward: source the finest raw materials directly from growers and producers, handle them with care, and deliver them to your door at peak freshness. We do not cut corners with fillers, artificial flavourings, or bulk blending. Every product is exactly what the label says it is, nothing more and nothing less.

Each batch is evaluated by our in-house panel of Q-graders, tea sommeliers, and spice specialists. Products that do not meet our sensory benchmarks are rejected, regardless of cost. This rigorous process means that only a fraction of what we sample earns a place in our catalogue, but it guarantees that everything you receive from us represents genuine excellence.

What Guides Us

Our Core Values

Transparency

We tell you exactly where every product comes from, how it was processed, and when it was packed. Full traceability is not a marketing exercise for us; it is a fundamental promise we make to every customer. Origin details, harvest dates, and producer profiles are available for each item in our catalogue.

Ethical Sourcing

Every supplier relationship begins with a face-to-face visit. We assess working conditions, environmental practices, and fair compensation before entering any agreement. Our growers receive above-market prices, and we commit to long-term contracts that provide them with financial stability and the confidence to invest in quality.

Sustainability

From compostable packaging and recyclable shipping materials to carbon-offset deliveries, we actively work to reduce our environmental footprint. A portion of every sale is reinvested into reforestation projects in our sourcing regions, supporting both the ecosystems and the communities that produce our ingredients.

Freshness First

Flavour degrades the moment a product is roasted, ground, or opened. That is why we prepare to order. Coffee is roasted, spices are milled, and teas are portioned within 48 hours of your purchase. Nitrogen-flushed packaging then locks everything in at peak aroma and potency until the moment you open it.

Education

We want you to get the most from every purchase. That is why each product includes detailed tasting notes, brewing or cooking guidance, and storage recommendations. Our online guides cover everything from perfecting your espresso extraction to building layered spice blends, helping you develop your palate with confidence.

Community

Our customers are not just buyers; they are collaborators. Feedback from our community directly shapes new product development, seasonal releases, and limited editions. We host regular tasting events, both online and at our Hornchurch premises, bringing together people who share a genuine love for exceptional flavours.

Our Supply Chain

From Farm to Your Cup

The journey of every Taste of Veronesi product begins at the source. We maintain personal, long-term relationships with small-scale farmers, cooperative leaders, and estate managers across Ethiopia, Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil, China, Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Peru, Ecuador, Madagascar, Italy, Turkey, and Morocco.

These are not faceless supply chains. We know the elevation at which each coffee is grown, the specific garden where each tea is plucked, and the family that tends each spice field. Annual visits allow us to verify quality standards, discuss crop development, and strengthen bonds that benefit everyone involved.

By purchasing directly, we ensure growers receive prices significantly above commodity market rates. This financial stability enables them to invest in sustainable farming practices, better processing equipment, and improved livelihoods for their families and communities. It also means we can guarantee a consistent supply of exceptional raw materials year after year.
